Why Helicopters Have Little Rotor On The Rear Side?

Why Helicopters Have Little Rotor On The Rear Side?

Let’s reMind a movie where a chopper or helicopter is hit on the tail rotor.

What happens next!!

It comes crashing down rotating round and round.

WHY?

Now Let’s Remind NEWTON’S 3rd Law,

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the force on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object. The direction of the force on the first object is opposite to the direction of the force on the second object. Forces always come in pairs – equal and opposite action-reaction force pairs.

Now Think About Chopper,

Due to the movement of the main Rotor, it generates a torque and in reaction to that torque, the body of the chopper moves in the opposite direction.

To counter this rotating motion the tail rotor generates thrust in the opposite direction so as to keep the balance.

The tail rotor also helps in proceeding the chopper left and right by manipulating the thrust generated by it.
